How to Approve and Manage Engineer Points

The Engineer Points module allows administrators and managers to review, approve, reject, partially approve, and manage points earned by engineers for completed tasks.

Points are calculated based on the task completion data submitted by engineers and the Difficulty Points configured for the project. These points can then be reviewed and approved before they become part of the engineer's total score.

The Engineer Points module consists of two sections:

  • Engineer Points → Approval List
  • Engineer Points → Summary

Understanding the Engineer Points Module

The Engineer Points module helps managers:

  • Review submitted engineer points.
  • Approve completed work.
  • Reject incorrect submissions.
  • Partially approve points when only part of the work is accepted.
  • Adjust point values before approval.
  • Monitor engineer performance.
  • Track total points earned across projects.

  • Sort By - Change the display order of results.

Understanding Point Statuses

Each submission will display a status indicating its review stage.

  • Pending - Awaiting review and approval.
  • Approved - Full points have been approved.
  • Partially Approved - Only a portion of the points has been approved.
  • Rejected - No points have been approved.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Engineer Points → Approval List.
  2. Locate the pending submission.
  3. Review the assigned points and task details.
  4. Click Approve.
  5. The submission status will change to Approved.

Once approved, the points will be included in the engineer's overall points summary.

Partially Approving Engineer Points

Purpose: Approve only part of the points when work is partially accepted.

Steps:

  1. Open Engineer Points → Approval List.
  2. Locate the pending submission.
  3. Review the submitted task details.
  4. Click Partial.
  5. Enter the number of points to approve.

  2. Locate the submission.
  3. Review the associated task.
  4. Click Reject.
  5. Confirm the action if prompted.

The submission status will change to Rejected.

Rejected submissions do not contribute to the engineer's total points.

Editing Points Before Approval

Purpose: Modify the number of points awarded for a task.

There may be situations where the calculated points need adjustment before approval.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Engineer Points → Approval List.
  2. Locate the required task.
  3. Click the Edit button.
  4. The Edit Points window will open.
  5. Enter the revised value in the Points to Assign field.
  6. Review the maximum available points.
  7. Click Update.

The updated value will be used for future approvals and calculations.

When Should Points Be Edited?

Point adjustments may be required when:

  • The engineer completed only part of the work.
  • Incorrect quantities were submitted.
  • Task requirements changed.
  • Quality issues affected the awarded score.
  • A manager needs to manually adjust the final score.

Reviewing Approved Point Records

Purpose: View previously approved submissions.

Steps:

  1. Open Engineer Points → Approval List.

Relationship Between Tasks, Difficulty Points, and Engineer Points

Engineer points are directly connected to:

  • Task completion records.
  • Engineer submissions.
  • Difficulty Point configuration.
  • Approval decisions made by managers.

When engineers submit completed work, the system calculates potential points using the configured Difficulty Points. These points are then reviewed and approved through the Engineer Points module.

Best Practices

  • Review task submissions before approving points.
  • Use partial approval when only part of the work meets requirements.
  • Reject incomplete or invalid submissions.
  • Adjust points only when necessary.
  • Regularly monitor engineer performance using the Summary section.
  • Use project filters to simplify large point reviews.
  • Ensure approvals are completed promptly.
  • Periodically review rejected submissions for training opportunities.
